Metaverse- A Whole VR World
Metaverse is a combination of the prefix “meta” which implies transcending with the word “universe” which describes a parallel or virtual environment linked to the physical world. Metaverse was first coined in 1992 by Neal Stephenson in his science-fiction novel Snow Crash, which envisions a virtual reality-based successor to the Internet. In this novel, people try to escape the pain of the real world by exploring a digital world through several digital avatars.
It’s amazing how things change over the years and we see how an idea used exclusively in a book turns into a real technological universe 30 years later.
Several large technology firms such as Facebook (now renamed Meta), Microsoft, and Nvidia Corporation are investing millions of dollars in building a digital universe consistent with the notion of the metaverse.
This universe referred to as the ‘metaverse’ bears the promise of fundamentally changing how consumers, brands, and firms will transact and interact in a seamlessly interconnected space of virtual realities.
What makes it even more special is that although it is becoming more and more popular lately, it is still not something that every company knows how to implement, so we are proud to be among the first companies in Romania that managed to bring this universe to its own website.
